This evolution, fueled by innovators and key representatives, has shifted the course of commerce and communication across the country.

Marketing in the United States has experienced a transformative journey, from the birth of print advertising in the early 1900s to today’s digital era. This evolution is marked not only by technological advancements, but also by innovative thinkers who have revolutionized the way businesses reach and connect with consumers.

Representative: John H. Patterson — Founder of the National Cash Register Company, he pioneered sales training and the concept of “territories” for salespeople.

2. Print Era: Broadsides to Magazines (Early 1900s)
